Trail, Water, & Land Alliance

 TWLA Meeting | June 17, 2022

Oakland County's Trail, Water & Land Alliance was launched in 2012 and is a merger of the County's Natural Area Advisory Group and the Trails Advisory Council. The resulting TWLA includes 50+ member organizations each working independently while collaboratively supporting the County's Green Infrastructure Network.

TWLA meetings focus on an exchange of information among participating organizations.  The alliance meets quarterly and ends the year with an annual Fall Celebration, held in early October.

TWLA Goals

  • Share information and coordinate efforts
  • Pursue the establishment of partnerships in the public and private sector
  • Promote quality of life through the Oakland County Trail Network, Fall Celebration, Green Infrastructure Vision and other events and marketing materials
  • Provide support to TWLA partner organizations when seeking grants and other funding opportunities

Oak Land & Partner Awards

Each year, TWLA recognizes the efforts and successes of individuals or a community as it relates to protecting and preserving natural areas and improving the County's Green Infrastructure Vision. In 2015 the Oak Land Award went to Oakland Township; and the Partner Award went to volunteer Gisela Lendle King of Rose Township. With much appreciation for work well done, TWLA congratulates both.  The award was presented at the 2015 Fall Celebration on October 1.
