Senior Advisor to Congressman Dave Trott
Doug Tietz has held leadership positions in the private
sector as well as city, county, state and federal government. In each position
he has focused on increasing public engagement and supporting private sector
innovation. As senior advisor to Congressman Dave Trott, Tietz serves as external
liaison and strategic planner. He oversees all constituent service staff and
assigns external outreach priorities and goals. In addition, Tietz owns Great
Dane Marketing Service, a full-service firm focused on public engagement
Tietz is a board member of the North Woodward Community
Foundation, which is dedicated to investing in citizen-driven initiatives and
operating as a fiscal sponsor of more than 50 nonprofit organizations. He
served as a Troy councilman from 2011-2015 where he emphasized open and
responsive government by building consensus with his colleagues. Within the first 12 months of his election,
Tietz lead the effort to place the city’s check register online and added
additional time in the city council agenda for public comment. When elected in 2011, he received the highest
number of votes for a city council candidate in Troy history. He is an active
member of Troy Kiwanis Club and was the president of Top of Troy Toastmasters
from 2009-2012. He has been a regional judge of the "We the People"
high school civics competition since 2010. He received his undergraduate degree
from the University of Michigan.
