Humane Education Manager
Detroit Zoological Society
Lisa is the first person in the history of the Detroit Zoological Society to hold the position as the humane education manager, and is the only person in this position at any zoo in the nation.
In her role, Lisa reaches thousands of people in Oakland County and beyond through the humane education initiative that she oversees. This initiative is geared to instill a desire in all citizens to make thoughtful, intentional choices in their daily lives and to help them understand the impacts we have on people, other species, and the planet. She is also a presenter of webinars and conference that have brought national attention to the zoo.
Worldwide, there is less than 60 people that have an M.Ed. in Humane Education, Lisa being one of them. She was highlighted in Hour Detroit Magazine in 2007 for her work, and sits on the Board of Directors for the Association of Professional Humane Educators and the Michigan Alliance for Environmental and Outdoor Educators.
