Tara Michener is the Author of the "Who I am" Series & Teen Books By Tara. She has a B.A. in Journalism & Public Relations from Madonna University. She has a M.A. in Counseling with specialized courses in child and adolescent therapy from Oakland University.
Tara Michener Founded TMI, LLC a company that promotes diversity & inclusion through books, speaking engagements & curriculum. The business offers training, planning, inclusion councils & customized consulting for individuals and/or organizations. She founded the Social Advocacy organization, Professionals Against Bullying to obtain relational aggression research, conduct community dialogue sessions, host projects & workshops. Professionals Against Bullying's outreach program is "I Love Myself Because..." which is a project that motivates tweens and teen girls to embrace advocacy, leadership & empowerment activities.
Michener is the Founder of Students Against Bullying at Oakland University. She created partnerships and opportunities with local media, non-profits and area businesses and offered conferences and special engagement opportunities for students to bring solutions to bullying to campus and the surrounding community. Michener has been a Guest columnist and Anti-bullying blogger for Freep, and is a Contributing Blogger for Patch. She is the co-chair of The Princeton Prize In Race Relations. Offering opportunities to high school students who make strides in race relations a chance to be honored by Princeton University and to attend their national symposium on race. She is the Founder of Dream Esteem Detroit Project providing empowerment resources for young people. She Founded UnBully Engagements-conferences that inform, educate & solution build.
She is an American Counseling Association Leadership Task force member. As a member of this committee she strives to offer advising and ideas on Diversity and Leadership. Michener created the "Be A Part of their Story" Literacy Project and the "Starter Library" initiative for non-profits and their clients to receive free books.
Tara is a seasoned TEDx Speaker and has presented at two of the events on the subject of anti-bullying, entrepreneurship and community. Tara's work has been featured in various publications & channels such as CW50, MY TV20, PBS & WDET Detroit Today.
Nominated in 2010 as a Diversity Champion by NAWBO & Fusion: Young Professional Horizon Honoree for Communication Services. Salute to Diversity Award by Corp!
