I am a partner at Howard & Howard Attorneys PLLC in Royal Oak, focusing in litigation. I am also a commissioned officer in the United States Army Reserve (currently a Captain), where I serve as a judge advocate general (JAG). I served as a prosecutor and military magistrate for an extended period on active duty with the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, XVIII Airborne Corps, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. I was selected by the Judge Advocate General of the Army to serve with United States Army Special Forces Command, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, where I am currently assigned. I completed Army Airborne and Air Assault schools. I was awarded the Army Commendation Medal (twice), Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Army Overseas Training Ribbon, and the Army Service Medal.
I started my career serving as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Oakland County, where I prosecuted felony and misdemeanor criminal cases on behalf of victims of crime across Oakland County. At my law firm, I prosecute and defend business disputes on behalf of automotive suppliers, defense contractors, financial institutions, real estate development companies, physician groups, construction companies, and businesses in a wide variety of other industries. I have significant experience in supplier-focused automotive litigation. I also specialize in business ownership oppression litigation involving business stakeholders.
I graduated from University of Detroit Jesuit High School, LeMoyne College in Syracuse, New York, and Wayne State University Law School. I studied in Ireland at University College Cork. I was recognized as a Michigan Rising Star attorney every year since 2009, named to the Michigan Lawyer's Weekly Up & Coming Lawyers list for 2010, and selected as a dBusiness Top Attorney for 2013.
As a civilian and military prosecutor, I served as lead trial counsel on dozens of jury and bench trials, attaining convictions in the great majority. More recently, at my law firm, I served as lead trial counsel for the plaintiff in a civil fraud case which resulted in a trial verdict of $2,905,000 in favor of our financial institution client. I also handed the appeal of that matter, which was affirmed.
I volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club of South Oakland County, HAVEN, and the Metropolitan Detroit Bar Association Barristers.
I reside in Rochester Hills with my wife, Elizabeth, and our four children, Abigail (5), Claire (4), Aiden (2), and Colin (10 weeks). We are parishioners of St. Andrew Catholic Church.
