Eager to begin his career as an Attorney, Ryan graduated early from Wayne State University Law School in December of 2004. In May 2005, after "auto-passing" the Michigan Bar exam, scoring in the top 2% nationally, he was admitted and licensed to practice law in the several courts of the State of Michigan, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. In 2007, Ryan was admitted to the Florida Bar; and in 2009 to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
As a general practice attorney and consultant, Ryan works on a myriad of issues, from international business and real estate to criminal law. He acts as general counsel and legal advisor to many Michigan small businesses.
Ryan has been a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson for over a decade, a certified Mediator since 2004 (completing the required training while studying for the bar exam), and is a technology consultant.
Though, it's his interest in criminal justice that sets him apart, as he uses his law enforcement and legal background to help keep the residents of Oakland County safe.
Ryan's interest in criminal justice led him to an internship with the Michigan State Police his senior year at MSU. It was there he learned of auxiliary police services. He subsequently completed the Oakland Police Academy's Basic Reserve Training, graduating with honors while also attending the first semester of law school full-time.
Ryan was a Special Deputy with the Oakland County Sheriff's Department throughout law school, attending numerous advanced police trainings to further his knowledge and skillset. Naturally he interned with the Felony Trial Division of the Wayne County Prosecutor's office, and became a Special Prosecutor while living in Florida. The Oakland County Board of Commissioners appointed Ryan as an alternate member when they created their Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. He was subsequently reappointed the following 2-year term. Furthermore, the President of the Florida Bar appointed him to the Traffic Court Rules Committee of the Florida Bar, which directly advises the Supreme Court of Florida. He was also appointed to the Criminal Jurisprudence & Practice Committee of the State Bar of Michigan, and is currently a Reserve Police Officer and acts as a legal advisor to a local Police Department.
Ryan was also a Charter Member of the International Law Enforcement Educators & Trainers Association, being a Firearms Instructor, Range Safety Officer, and Use of Force Instructor. Certified to teach concealed pistol classes, he also teaches the legal portion to other instructors, and lectures on the law of self-defense. With an extensive
background in wrestling, jiu-jitsu and judo, Ryan helps teach police officers how to avoid ground fighting, and to stay safe in such situations.
Ryan's many volunteer contributions include the Michigan Center for Civic Education, acting as a Judge for the Michigan High School Mock Trial tournament yearly. He's also an elected precinct delegate, volunteer election-day lawyer, and President of his homeowner's association.
