Aside from going away to college, I have lived all of my life in Waterford, MI. Growing up on Sylvan/Otter Lake was so enjoyable that my wife and I built a home on the same lake in 2006. As a child, my father instilled a strong work ethic in me. When most kids my age were enjoying the lake, I was cutting grass and working for my father at DMF Bait. As I grew up, so did the company. I developed a passion for my father's business.
My schooling began at Our Lady of Refuge in Orchard Lake. After 8th grade I moved on to Bloomfield Brother Rice where I was a four year letterman in Swimming. In 1992 I enrolled at CMU in Mt. Pleasant where I earned my BSBA in Product Operation Management. My five years at CMU were priceless. I held several positions from Dorm Hall Council, Campus Ambassador, Big Brother through the United Way, RA (Resident Assistant), plus many offices in Phi Chi Theta business fraternity such as Pledge Director, VP and President.
In 1999 I married my best friend and college sweetheart. Today we have four beautiful children: one son and three daughters ages 11, 9, 4 and 3.
I am Co-Owner and CEO of DMF Bait Company in Waterford, MI. I grew up with company so I have done nearly every job we have to offer. Today my concentration is on growth, profitability, strength and efficiency. Even though our business is 35 years old we are still growing, learning and expanding. I view our company as a teenager. We may look like an adult but there is still a lot of growing up to do.
My focus is rarely on "today". I am usually focused on next week, next month or next year. Sales, weather, customers, completion and other road blocks occupy the majority of my thoughts. I constantly look at things we can change or improve. I always believe there is better way of doing things. One of my passions and strengths is my vision for our future. I see DMF's potential and work hard at finding ways to achieve our goals. I believe anything is attainable and possible with hard work and determination.
Over the past 12 years I helped triple our company's sales by working with our customer's systems and learning how to maximize their resources. There is always a better way!
I have created a scholarship at Central Michigan University for a student following my footsteps. Each year a student with average grades that belongs to the School of Business and is a member of Phi Chi Theta can earn a modest scholarship. It is my hope to expand that amount in the near future. My wife and I hope to create one for the Art Department as well.
