Amanda Brianne Boltwood, 32, joined Irish Road Dental in February 2012. Prior to this, she practiced in Lake Orion for five years. Dr. Boltwood grew up in Rochester Hills and graduated with honors from Michigan State University’s Lyman Briggs School where she received a B.S. degree in Science and Technology Studies. She earned her D.D.S. from University of Detroit Mercy’s School of Dentistry. While a student there, she completed a preceptorship in forensic odontology at Wayne County’s Medical Examiner’s Office and was honored with the American Academy of Oral Medicine Award.
Dr. Boltwood regularly attends continuing education courses to expand and enhance her dental knowledge. She practices most areas of dentistry including fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, partials, extractions, and root canals. One day a week she travels to nursing homes around southeast Michigan to provide dental care to residents.
Dr. Boltwood is also a member of the Michigan Forensic Dental Identification Team (FDIT) and the Michigan Mortuary Response Team (MI-MORT). As a member of FDIT and MI-MORT, she could be deployed to help identify bodies in the event of a mass disaster in Michigan.
Dr. Boltwood has been actively involved in helping to revive the Young Dentist Division of the Oakland County Dental Society. Through this organization, she hopes to encourage young dentists and specialists to come together to discuss patient cases and participate in local community service activities. She is also involved in the charity SheDentists, which is a charity created by women dentists, serving the needs of disadvantaged women by providing free or low cost dental care and scholarships to those who qualify.
Furthermore, she is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Michigan Dental Association (MDA), Oakland County Dental Society (OCDS), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), Michigan Forensic Dental Identification Team (FDIT), Michigan Mortuary Response Team (MI-MORT), and Michigan Volunteer Registry.
Dr. Boltwood is married to her husband, Steven Zehnder, and resides in Auburn Hills with their dog, Dakota, and cat, Morley. In her spare time, she loves to travel, boat, exercise, watch movies, cook, and relax with her family, animals, and friends.
