A community activist committed to helping the residents and elected officials across Michigan, Angela Powell has turned that activism into action as a member of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners.

Powell began her career at the Greater Pontiac Community Coalition, where she served as a liaison between Pontiac elected officials and grassroots organizations. She then went to work as a community organizer for the Michigan House of Representatives and later became the Director of Operations for the Oakland County Democratic Party and the constituent services director for State House of Representatives Minority Leader Tim Greimel.

In addition to her political activity, Powell is the small business owner of Tax Savvy Refunds in Pontiac. She has been a coach in the girls' basketball program at Pontiac High School and as a child of deaf parents, she has been active in the deaf community at Deaf Ministry at Central Baptist Church.

A graduate of Oakland University, Powell lives in Pontiac with her daughter.
