Helping manufacturers, and the health care and space industry with advanced robot technology is just a portion of Dr. Wing-Yue Geoffrey Louie's work as an assistant professor of Robotics at Oakland University.

He also is collaborating with Dr. Jessica Korneder, the clinic director at the University's Center for Autism, to develop social robots to teach children with autism spectrum disorder how to learn a variety of skills. Louie is currently using his social robots to assist in providing healthcare services to unique populations, such as individuals with disabilities on campus.

He is an active mentor since joining Oakland University's faculty in 2017, and created a new course focusing on the field of human-robot interaction.

He received a bachelor's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. He is a member of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society. He and his wife live in Troy.
