As the Newcomer Student Coordinator for the Oakland Schools, Wisam Brikho works closely with local, county, state and federal departments as well as the business and non-profit communities to coordinate all available resources for the county's immigrant students

Some of those resources include education for students who are English learners, immigration help, mental health services and food insecurity.

With 10 years of experience in the area of trauma and mental health, along with being fluent in Arabic and Chaldean, Brikho provides consultations, guidance and resources to school districts and community agencies across the county.

He is also a varsity soccer coach at Pontiac High School.

Before joining Oakland Schools, Brikho was the Director of the Arab-American & Chaldean Council - Network ClubHouse, and a case manager for Wayne State University's ACC – Trauma Recovery Center. He received a bachelor's degree from Oakland University and a master's degree from the University of Detroit Mercy. He lives in Rochester Hills.
