Motivated by the sheer hope of making a positive impact, Sumaiya Ahmed Sheikh summarizes her career focus in three words: empower, engage, and educate.

Ahmed Sheikh comes from a long commitment to community service, political strategy, marketing and communications, and civic engagement. Before joining the Oakland County Democratic Party as the Executive Director, Ahmed Sheikh served as the Michigan state director for Campus Vote Project; where she helped educate student voters and organize Michigan's 98 campuses.

She has also been the Executive Director of the Michigan Muslim Community Council, National Communications Director for Emgage, and a Member of the American Muslim Working Group for the presidential campaign of Joe Biden.

She has been a board member of Unified Under Hope, the Huda Clinic, WISDOM, and the Interfaith Leadership Council. She lives in West Bloomfield with her husband and two sons.
