Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research

Translating dense architectural theories and complex history into tours, lectures and virtual programs that are accessible to a wide audience, Kevin Adkisson has made the Cranbrook story come alive as the Curator for Cranbrook's Center for Collections and Research.

An architecture historian, Adkisson assists in the preservation, interpretation and public education programs across the buildings and treasures of Cranbrook.

Previously, he worked at Robert A.M. Stern Architects in New York as a research and writing associate and at the Kent Bloomer Studio in New Haven, Connecticut, where he designed and fabricated architectural ornament.

He has been able to significantly increase attendance for tours, lectures and programming since coming to Cranbrook and he launched exhibitions of historic artifacts and contemporary art within the institution's buildings and the "Live at Five" virtual tours on Instagram and Facebook during COVID, attracting more than 600,000 viewers.

Adkisson received a bachelor's degree from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut and a master's degree from the University of Delaware. He lives in Bloomfield Hills.
