Deanna J. Kossaras is the Intellectual Property Counsel at Harman International Industries, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co. and a leader in connected technologies for automotive, consumer and enterprise markets. She is responsible for managing over 1,400 patent assets in 14 technologies.

Prior to joining Harman, she was a patent attorney at Dickinson Wright, where she focused on patent preparation and prosecution in the electrical and computer arts.

Kossaras has been named one of Metro Detroit's Top Corporate Counsel for 2018 and 2019 by DBusiness Magazine. She has also been recently recognized by Crain's Detroit Business as a Crain's 2019 Notable Women in Law.

She is passionate about the advancement of minorities in the legal and tech fields and currently serves as a co-chapter leader of the Harman Women's Network (Midwest Chapter). She also has served as a board or committee member of the Women's Bar Association – Oakland Region for the last 5 years. She has served as a tutor in the Walter H. Bentley III Minority Bar Passage Program, which is designed to improve bar passage rates of law school graduates.

Kossaras was appointed by the State Bar of Michigan Board of Commissioners in 2015 and was reappointed in 2017 to serve on the Character & Fitness District I Committee. This committee is tasked with assessing and providing recommendations to the State Bar on applicants who are undergoing review.

Kossaras earned her law degree from the University Of Detroit Mercy School Of Law in 2013 and her Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Oakland University in 2010. She also recently earned a Certificate in Women in Leadership from Cornell University in 2019. Kossaras is a resident of Royal Oak.
