Financial Advisor/Field Director
Northwestern Mutual

As a lifelong resident of Berkley, Dan knew that he wanted to give back to the community that had given him, and his family, so much over the years. At the age of 25, he applied for, and was appointed, to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. A couple years later, Dan wanted have an even greater impact in the city, so he successfully ran for council. He was subsequently elected to two additional terms on council before deciding to run for mayor in November of 2017.

Dan's public service motivation has changed over his 11 years of service to Berkley. As the youngest council member, Dan brought a different perspective to city leadership and new ideas to overcome challenges. As Mayor, Dan is focused on the fostering the unique, small-town feel of Berkley, while promoting a vision for future generations. As the father of three young daughters, Dan knows that the decisions he makes today will impact impact the Berkley of tomorrow.

Aside from being mayor, Dan's "real job" is as a financial advisor at Northwestern Mutual in Troy. Recently, Dan moved into an expanded leadership role as a Field Director, focusing on mentoring and developing new advisors, as well as continuing his personal practice. Dan's skills as a former teacher and principal translate well to his new career as he is still teaching and educating- just adults instead of kids.

Dan, and his wife Jacqueline have three daughters Addison, Emma and Isabel. In his spare time, which there is not a lot of, Dan has a healthy addiction to sports, especially University of Michigan Football, the Tigers, Red Wings, and Lions. On Friday nights in the fall he'll be at the ice rink playing for the Michigan Aces men's league hockey team.
