Nick Skislak worked blue-collar jobs while attending Western Michigan University before graduating in 2006 with a B.A. in Advertising and Promotion. Now, he steers an innovative digital agency with nearly $4 million in annual billings.

Out of college, Nick landed the big corporate ad agency position and quickly realized it was not for him. With a little money and a large vision, he started SS Digital Media (SSDM) in 2008, essentially just ahead of the Recession, in a spare bedroom. Without any investors, handouts or debts owed, what started out as a cold-call operation has now grown into an integrated digital agency, offering everything from web development to strategic search and social-media campaigns, mobile websites, applications, video and e-commerce development, as well as sophisticated email engagement campaigns.
