Director
Center for Autism Outreach Services, Oakland University

Kristin Rohrbeck is director at the Center for Autism Outreach Services (OUCARES) at Oakland University. Having begun at OUCARES as program coordinator, she was promoted for her leadership abilities and drive to enhance autism supports in our communities. As director, she has led OUCARES’ growth to serve over 2,300 people impacted by autism spectrum disorders in southeast Michigan with over 100 annual programs. Her passion for education and improving the outcomes for people with disabilities inspires her to develop new and innovative programming for the autism community in the region, including an intensive employment-readiness training which has (in under 2 years) guided over 30 adults with autism into paid employment positions or higher education to reach their career goals.

Kristin also works hard to expand partnerships with other organizations in the region. In 2018, she led the development of a partnership with the Ted Lindsay Foundation resulting in a one million dollar gift to grow OUCARES programs to support teens and adults living with autism spectrum disorders.

As a proactive resident of Oakland County, Kristin is involved in multiple organizations that give back to the community such as 100 Women Who Care and MI Bright Future. Through MI Bright Future, Kristin serves as an online career coach answering questions and offering advice to public school children across the region who have questions about their futures. She also actively volunteers her time at Oakland University, serving on the Women’s Employee Resource Group Executive Board, the Administrative Professionals Association, and the Senate Committee on Campus Environment and Development.

Kristin received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and Spanish from the University of Michigan, and her master’s degree in psychology from The Ohio State University. She completed the Leadership Oakland Cornerstone program in 2018, and has been recognized with various awards including On My Own of Michigan’s Community Partner of the Year Award in 2017.
