COO
Great Lakes Water Authority

I have recently joined Great Lakes Water Authority as the Chief Operating Officer for the Great Lakes Water Authority. My responsibilities include shaping the Authority’s wastewater operating services and continuing to push the organization forward as a “Utility of the Future,” a designation — launched by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), Water Environment Federation (WEF), Water Research Foundation (WRF), WateReuse Association and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) — for utilities demonstrating transformational work and leadership in resource recovery, watershed stewardship and community engagement. In my capacity as the COO I will have the pleasure to provide leadership for over 400 employees, while responsible for an annual operating budget of greater than $100 million with an additional $600 Million dollar five year capital program.

Prior to assuming this position, I served as the Chief Engineer at the Oakland County Water Resource Commissioner’s office. During my tenure at the Oakland County WRC, I led the transitioning of the City of Pontiac’s water and wastewater operations and maintenance from private contract operations to county operations. The transformation included design and construction of a new state of the art biosolids processing system. This innovative process was the first in Michigan and the third in North America. Additionally I provided leadership for Oakland County operated facilities including (3) water resource recovery facilities with a combined capacity 40.5 MGD, (200+) sewage pump stations including 900 miles force mains, (5) community well systems, (2000+) grinder stations, and (2) retention basins. I was also responsible for the WRC electrical and system control unit that services all WRC operated facilities.

Prior to working for Oakland County, I worked as a Senior Design engineer for URS Corporation (recently acquired by AECOM). URS Corp. is a national design consultant where I practiced for over 10 years specializing in design and construction of water treatment, water resource recovery and pumping systems as a consultant.

I am a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan. I Graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and as a member of Chi Epsilon – a National Civil Engineering Honor Society.

The information presented here was accurate as of January 1, 2019.
