Adam Burns is in his 11th year teaching film making, innovation, and English at Troy Athens High School. He works at a school that values service and experiential learning. Adam was honored by the Kennedy Center with the Sondheim Inspirational Teacher Award, by Turnaround Management Association with the Butler-Cooley Teacher Excellence Award, and by the Troy School District with the High School Teacher of the Year Award. In 2016, he traveled to the United Kingdom on a fellowship from Fund for Teachers to study British broadcasting and filmmaking and the globalization of these industries in the digital age. Each spring, Adam coaches the Athens Girls JVB soccer team and focus on building team chemistry and a lifelong love of the sport. He loves finding funding opportunities for his students and has received grants totaling over $100,000 for his classroom. He enjoys traveling and spending time up north with his wife, Grace and children John, Isla and Anna.
