Melissa is an advocate, attorney, parent, wife and bulldog lover with a passion for helping others. And, as someone who has lived in three countries (S. Korea, United States and Canada), she brings a unique perspective to all problems she encounters.

In her professional life, Melissa provides a wide range of intellectual property services in trademark and copyright law, including prosecution, clearance, enforcement and litigation. Specifically, Melissa helps clients develop trademark and copyright filing strategies and implement same in an efficient and cost-effective manner. She also has counseled clients on domain name maintenance and acquisition strategies, including obtaining coveted generic top-level domain names (gTLDs) and domain names incorporating client’s trademarks held by serial cyber squatters. Melissa has extensive experience in internet-related enforcement efforts, such as social media and DMCA take down notices. She also handles matters in federal court and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Her expertise has not gone unnoticed as, after only six years of practicing, she has been recognized by Michigan Super Lawyers as "a Rising Star," an award bestowed on only 2.5% of attorneys in Michigan; an "Up and Coming" lawyer; and a "Top Lawyer."

She also strives to give back to her community. For five years she was a member of the Women’s Bar Association of Oakland Country and for four of such years she was a board member where she advocated for women in the legal profession. She has also been a member of the Junior League of Birmingham, a speaker on at Detroit Start Up Week, a member of the Association of Corporate Growth (ACG) – Detroit, "Women Lawyer's Association of Michigan - Member of the Month" and the International Trademark Association, Pro Bono committee member.

In her personal life, as a Michigan "transplant", she enjoys exploring the many beautiful parks of Oakland County (and beyond) with her husband, daughter and bulldogs.
