WATERFORD, Mich., Sept. 2, 2022 – Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash and his office of Volunteer Ambassadors’ “Band of Superheroes” will bring their superpowers to Herrington Elementary School students on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. beginning at 8:20 a.m. The superheroes and Commissioner Nash will join community leaders to greet students as they walk into the school building located at 541 Bay Street in Pontiac, Michigan. For three years, the Oakland County Water Resources Volunteer Ambassadors’ Superheroes have helped students start the school year on a positive note by encouraging the students to do their very best in class. The Superheroes also give students masks, school supplies, and other educational items to kick off the school year.
This year’s superheroes scheduled to join Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash will be Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, Antman, Superman, Spiderman, Ironman, and Leonardo the Ninja Turtle.
“This is an event that my staff truly enjoys. It helps bring our kids into the new year with a fun introduction and my employees get to support the community they serve,” said Oakland County Water Commissioner Jim Nash.
The mission, as a partner with Herrington Elementary School, the Pontiac School District, Genisys Credit Union, the Herrington Neighborhood Association’s Jean Matthews, and Pontiac City Councilman William Parker is to bring cheer and excitement to the children to make their day memorable and special. The 2023 Kids’ Calendar contest artwork entry forms for 4th and 5th graders will be shared by Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash and the Superheroes. They will promote the environmental contest.
