Since this special partnership began in 2018, the Oakland County Water Resources Commissioners’ Office, in conjunction with Pure Oakland Water (POW) has shared both valuable information with thousands of fair visitors and taught about the importance of our natural water resources. Through the years, visitors have had the opportunity to ask questions regarding a variety of water-related issue. Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash and the WRC volunteer ambassadors provide a customer-friendly and educational experience at the fair.
“Having the opportunity to speak with the public about the many ways water impacts their daily lives and the role water plays in agriculture has made partnering with the Michigan State Fair very important for my office,” said Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash. He continued to state, “Joining the more than 100-year tradition of the Michigan State Fair, for the last decade, in Oakland County, has been valuable for our educational efforts.”
Each year, the annual Kids’ Clean Water Calendar Contest is introduced at the fair with entry form information provided for 4th and 5th grade students.
