Pontiac, Mich., September. 12, 2022—Today, Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II and Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash gathered with EGLE Director Liesl Clark and other local elected officials to discuss the WRC Clinton River Water Resource Recovery Facility’s Biosolids Project funding.
The project was financed through the State Revolving Fund Loan program in partnership with the involved communities. The estimated project cost is approximately $32 million. The biosolids process reduces the volume of biosolids by 20% and disposal costs by 50%. It also decreases the facility’s carbon footprint and dependence on natural gas with the use of methane generating from anaerobic digesters. This facility is ideal for improving overall soil structure and is an excellent source of primary, secondary and micronutrients.
“The Clinton River Water Resource Recovery Biosolids’ Project benefits Oakland County residents by contributing to a better environment for all,” said Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash. “The project was financed through the State of Michigan Revolving Fund Loan program, and we are thankful for the support. It was an honor to host the Lt. Governor at our facility today.”
The facility serves 13 communities including the City of Auburn Hills, City of Lake Angelus, Charter Township of Oakland, Charter Township of Oxford, City of Pontiac, City of Rochester Hills, Charter Township of West Bloomfield, Charter Township of Independence, Village of Lake Orion, Charter Township of Orion, Village of Oxford, City of Rochester and the Charter Township of Waterford.

Local elected officials in attendance were Congresswomen Brenda Lawrence, City of Pontiac Mayor Tim Greimel, Oakland County Executive David Coulter, and Pastor Douglas Jones.
