Boil Water Advisory for Southeast Oakland Township

8/02 8 A.M Precautionary Boil Water Advisory is now in effect for Southeast Oakland Township. This includes the Oakland Farms, Oakland Knolls, Oakland Hills, Knorrwood Pines, Knorrwood Ridge, Oak Arbor, Deer Point, Park Hill, St. Johns Church, Oakland Crest, Guardian Angel Cemetery, Oakland Valley, Coachlamp subdivisions. You are advised to boil tap water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or making ice. An advisory has been issued due to a temporary loss of water pressure or other conditions that may affect water quality.

Whenever a water system loses pressure for any significant length of time, precautionary measures are recommended because a loss of pressure can lead to bacterial contamination in the water system. Bacteria are generally not harmful and are common. Although no contamination has been detected, as a precaution, all water customers in the affected area are advised to boil water until further notice. Boiling the water will remove bacteria and other organisms that may be in the water.

Two water samples will be taken 24 hours apart from each other and tested for water quality. Once both samples comply with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) guidelines, you will be updated.
