Post Date:06/06/2025 2:28 PM

Pontiac, Mich. – Oakland County Executive David Coulter released the following statement praising the swift response by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, their law enforcement partners and the security team at United Wholesale Mortgage, who with combined investigative efforts, averted a tragedy at the Arts & Technology Academy of Pontiac graduation ceremony Wednesday.

Just yesterday, Coulter addressed hundreds of first responders who answer the call to such incidents at the 8th Annual North American Active Assailant Conference, one of the largest conferences in the world dedicated to improving emergency response to active violence, hosted in Troy by the Oakland County Tactical Consortium (OakTac).

His statement begins here:

“I am incredibly grateful to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and the security team at United Wholesale Mortgage for their diligence and swift response that prevented a mass shooting and undoubtedly saved lives at a high school graduation in Pontiac Wednesday night,” said Oakland County Executive David Coulter. “This incident comes on the heels of an active assailant conference I attended yesterday, proving again how critical training is to prevention.”
