PONTIAC, Mich. - Oakland County Prosecutor KAREN D. McDONALD charged Timothy Suave Williams, a 36-year-old resident of Pontiac with Assault with Intent to Murder, Firearms Possession by a Prohibited Person, and two counts of Felony Firearm.
The defendant is alleged to have shot at the victim on April 18 outside the Newman Court Apartment in Pontiac, striking the victim in the left shoulder. Several bystanders witnessed the shooting, including children playing nearby. The defendant was identified through the victim's mother. She and the defendant were previously involved in a dating relationship. The defendant turned himself in to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office on April 24.
"Gun violence like we see in this case is an epidemic that affects communities like Pontiac on an almost daily basis," said Prosecutor McDonald. "We have a victim hospitalized and children fleeing from a gun fight in their neighborhood. Pontiac deserves better and we will aggressively prosecute anyone who endangers residents with senseless violence."
Assault with Intent to Murder is punishable by up to life in prison. Firearms possession by a Prohibited Person is punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine. Felony Firearm is punishable by two years in prison, served consecutively and preceding any other sentence.
Charges are accusations and individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
