PONTIAC, Mich. - On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, Judge Nanci Grant sentenced defendant Marco Bisbikis to life in prison without parole for orchestrating the June 1, 2022, murder of Oak Park jeweler Daniel "Hutch" Hutchinson and the attempted murder of his wife. Judge Grant sentenced codefendant Roy Larry to life in prison without parole for shooting and killing Hutchinson as he and his wife sat in the SUV outside their Oak Park pawn shop. Two additional defendants, Darnell Larry and Angelo Raptoplous, previously pleaded guilty to related charges and are awaiting sentencing.

The sentencing of Bisbikis, an attorney, and Roy Larry, follows a unanimous jury verdict on May 23, 2024, finding that Bisbikis had his own client killed, and finding both defendants guilty of all charges against them, including First-Degree Premeditated Murder, Conspiracy to Commit First-Degree Premeditated Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, and two counts of Felony Firearm in connection with the murder.

The investigation of the murder was led by the Oak Park Department of Public Safety, including Officer-in-Charge Dwaine Green, in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Oakland County Sheriff's Office (OCSO), and the Michigan State Police (MSP).

"This was a long-planned murder motivated by greed. The sentences handed down by Judge Grant today will not bring Daniel Hutchinson back, but I hope they bring his family some peace," stated Oakland County Prosecutor KarenMcDonald.
