SUMMARY:Planners Gathering: Barrier Free Design for Planners
DESCRIPTION:
Barrier free design standards are an integral part of local planning. The application of those standards is an essential element of master plans, streetscape plans, site plans, building renovations and new-builds—and everything in between. Join us for a discussion regarding barrier free design, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Michigan Building Code. There will be several examples of what does and doesn’t work, some updates on legislation, and a review of online tools available to convey planning information to the visually impaired.

SPEAKERS

Ron Campbell, AIA, Principal Planner and Preservation Architect, Oakland County Department of Economic Development

Erica Coulston, President and Co-Owner, Walk The Line Recovery Therapy

Justin Willcock, Department Aide, Oakland County Department of Economic Development

<div eds-l-sm-mar-vert-4="" eds-text-bm="" structured-content-rich-text"="">

AGENDA

10:00 a.m. – Welcome

10:05 a.m. – Presentation Begins

10:45 a.m. – Q&A

11:00 a.m. – Adjourn

Questions?
