The installation of the wireless network has been broken out into two phases.  The first phase includes portions of the following seven communities: Troy, Birmingham, Royal Oak, Madison Heights, Wixom, Oak Park and Pontiac.  In these areas the technology and build-out procedures will be piloted.  The total area to be covered equates to approximately 18 square miles and service will be provided to approximately 75,000 residents. 

Service has been available in all Phase One areas since May 2007, however MichTel is currently working on infill and service improvement in each of the areas.   

If you are in a Phase One area and do not have service please contact MichTel Communications, LLC at 1.248.524.8395 to inform them of your location.  MichTel is using the information to improve the network.

The second phase of the project will cover the remainder of Oakland County.   A detailed schedule listing when individual communities can expect service will be made available the Wireless Oakland website.
