A study to evaluate the additional equalization/retention tank capacity required at the Walled Lake-Novi Wastewater Treatment Plant for treatment of the daily flow for any wet weather event up to and including the 24 hour, 25–year storm under current and future flow conditions was completed by Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr and Huber, Inc. on January 9, 2013. A new retention tank, based on the study findings, is presently under design by Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr and Huber, Inc. The design will be submitted to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality with the application for a Part 41 Construction Permit by April 20, 2013 in accordance with the deadline established under the plant’s discharge permit. Jim Wineka, P.E., Assistant Chief Engineer and Mike Walsh, P.E., are the WRC engineers assigned to the project. The estimated construction cost is $1,800,000. The project is scheduled to be bid during mid to late Summer 2013.
