Recent inspection of the 42” dia. interceptor near the City of Birmingham’s Linden Park indicated that the Rouge River has scoured the stream bank, placing the interceptor sewer at risk. The proposed project consists of the installation of steel sheet piling to protect the interceptor sewer along with coir logs, live stakes and other bio-engineering techniques to stabilize the stream bank. Hubbell, Roth and Clark, Inc. was selected as the design engineer for the project. Mike Walsh, P.E., is the WRC engineer assigned to the project. The estimated project cost is $150,000. A spring 2013 bid date is scheduled.
