Mr. Williams was from Farmington, MI and was known to his family and friends as Kenny. He graduated from Farmington High School in June, 1967. Following in his fathers footsteps, he enlisted in the U.S. Army just a few months after graduation. He was sent to helicopter flight school and married during a weekend pass from flight school. After completion of flight school, he was immediately shipped Vietnam in March of 1969. On the morning of 6/25/69, Kenny was Pilot/Gunner of an AH-1G attack helicopter on a reconnaissance in force mission in Kien Hoa Province, Republic of Vietnam. While attacking a hostile position, Kennys helicopter was hit by enemy fire, crashed and burned. The Purple Heart was not awarded for 31 years after his death. His mother (Helen Robertson), his father (Roy Kenneth Williams Sr.) and three younger siblings (Jim, Kathy and Tom) survived Kenny.
