Mr. Linville was from Madison Heights, MI. He enlisted and volunteered to go to Vietnam. He was a member of the 1st Brigade, 5th Infantry Division. He volunteered to go on a rescue mission to save a helicopter crew that had been shot down. A mortar shell killed him and the four others who volunteered for the mission. He had been awarded the Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters (3 awards). His goal was to become a policeman, like his father, after the war.
