The deputy turned around to follow the fleeing vehicle westbound on Walton.
When the deputy began to close the distance, he activated his lights and siren, but the Intrepid accelerated to over 100 miles per hour. The Intrepid continued approximately 3 miles to Squirrel Road in the city of Auburn Hills where it spun out and crashed in a construction zone and the two occupants fled the scene on foot.

When that vehicle pulled into a residential driveway, the two suspects approached the vehicle. The 17 year old went to the drivers side where he struck the driver with a hammer, pulled him out of the car, forced him to the ground, ordered him to empty his pockets, and took his wallet.
The 16 year old went to the passenger side, pulled the passenger out of the car, and told him to empty his pockets and get everything out. He threw his wallet, cell phone and Sony Play Station to the ground. The two suspects took these items along with the bag of hamburgers and fled in the stolen car.
