Oakland County Deputy Survives 2 Accidents

 PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) - A 52-year-old OaklandCountysheriff's deputy is back to work after being in two accidents in the same week.

Terry Long had been investigating a traffic accident Monday morning when an oncoming motorist lost control on the icy roadway and slammed into him in CommerceTownship.

Undersheriff Michael McCabesays Long was holding onto the front of car that struck him when he noticed the driver was about to ram the rear of a pickup.

McCabe says Long slid beneath the rear of the truck to avoid being crushed.

Long was driving a department vehicle two days later in Pontiac when he struck another car that had failed to yield to oncoming traffic.

McCabe says the 19-year veteran was lucky to walk away from both accidents with minor bruises.
