Fire Investigations Unit

The Fire Investigations Unit is recognized as one of the best fire investigation units in the country.  In 2010, the Sheriff's Fire Investigations Unit conducted 241 fire investigations, of which 66 were determined to be arson.

This is the fourth full year a fire investigations dog has worked with the Unit and the dog has had extensive training in accelerant detection, indicating the exact location of a fire's origin.  Also, the dog is able to identify and track residue on fire starting materials and on suspects.
