Robert Smith
Captain, Rochester Hills Substation
Captain Robert Smith began his law enforcement career in 1975 attending the Detroit Police Academy. He was hired by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office in 1979 and is currently the Commander of the Substation in Rochester Hills, the largest contracting municipality.
Captain Smith oversees the activities of the 58 assigned Deputies who provide a full spectrum of law enforcement services to a city of 70,000 residents.
Captain Smith has served in varied assignments in a multitude of capacities throughout his career with the Sheriff's Office.
He previously worked in Technical Services where he spent many years working a variety of investigative assignments, Corrective Services and Patrol Services, including commanding the Marine Division.
Captain Smith is a 1975 graduate of Wayne State University with a B.A. in Criminal Justice. He graduated with a Master's Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University in 1998. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, 169th Session.
