Michael G. McCabe
Undersheriff

Undersheriff Michael G. McCabe started with the Sheriff's Office in 1977 as a Road Patrol Deputy. He was promoted to Sergeant  in 1989, Lieutenant in 1991, Captain in 1993, Deputy Chief of Staff in 1996, Chief of Staff in 1999, and Undersheriff in March of 2003. 

In that role, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the Sheriff's Office and all Divisions, acting as the Sheriff's Chief of Staff and helping to oversee a $120 million budget with over 1200 employees.  He has worked every Division of the Sheriff's Office during his 34 year career. Some of his duties include public information officer, labor contracts and negotiations, all new hires, lawsuits, and chief advisor to Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard.

A 1977 graduate of Michigan State University with a B. A. in Criminal Justice, Undersheriff McCabe is also a member of:

  • National Sheriff's Association
  • Oakland County Association of Chiefs of Police
  • Michigan Sheriff's Association
  • International Association of Chiefs of Police
  • Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police
  • Southeastern Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police
  • Board member of HIDTA (Michigan High Integrity Drug Trafficking area) 
  • Auto Theft Prevention Authority - Appointed by Governor Rick Snyder

Undersheriff McCabe is currently the Chairman of the Membership and Security Committee of the Courts and Law Enforcement Management Information System (CLEMIS), a multi-county data sharing consortium recognized by the Department of Justice as the single largest and most successful law enforcement consortium in the U.S.A.
