Michael G. McCabe
Undersheriff

Undersheriff Michael G. McCabe started with the Sheriff's Office in 1977 as a Road Patrol Deputy. He was promoted to Sergeant  in 1989, Lieutenant in 1991, Captain in 1993, Chief of Staff in 1999, and Undersheriff in March of 2003. 

In that role, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the Sheriff's Office and all divisions. Some of his  duties include public information officer, labor contracts and negotiations, all new hires, lawsuits, and chief advisor to Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard.

A 1977 graduate of Michigan State University with a B. A. in Criminal Justice, Undersheriff McCabe is also a member of:

  • National Sheriff's Association
  • Deputy Sheriff's Association of Michigan (Past President) 
  • Oakland County Association of Chiefs of Police Association
  • Michigan Sheriff's Association
  • International Association of Chiefs of Police
  • Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police 
  • Auto Theft Prevention Authority (appointed in 2002 by Michigan Governor John Engler)

Undersheriff McCabe is currently the Chairman of the Consortium Committee of the Courts and Law Enforcement Management Information System (CLEMIS), a multi-county data sharing consortium.
