Michael D. Johnson
Captain, Rochester Hills Substation

Captain Johnson is currently the Commander of the Substation in Rochester Hills, the largest contracting municipality. 

Captain Smith oversees the activities of the 58 assigned Deputies who provide a full spectrum of law enforcement services to a city of 70,000 residents.

A 1978 graduate of Michigan State University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice with honors and a 1979 graduate of the Oakland Police Academy, Captain Johnson started with the Sheriff's Office in 1979 as a Patrol Deputy. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1988, Lieutenant in 2000, and Captain in 2005. 

Captain Johnson has worked in Patrol Services, Technical Services, Corrections and Satellite Services. His various assignments include the Alcohol Enforcement Team, the Narcotics Enforcement Team, the Fugitive Apprehension Team, and Substation Commander in Brandon Township. His assignment prior to his current position was as the Commander in charge of the Emergency Preparedness, Training, and Communications Division at the Sheriff's Office.
