Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard has concluded the 27th year of the "Coats for the Cold" Coat Drive.COAT DRIVE.jpg

The "Coats for the Cold" coat drive is sponsored by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with 1-800-MINI-STORAGE and PODS. 1-800-MINI-STORAGE provided the boxes for coat drop-off sites around the county, and PODS provided their portable storage units at several drop-off sites as well.

Local Real Estate One offices, and all of the Genisys Credit Union branches throughout Oakland County served as drop-off sites also.  We are grateful to all of our partners for their support!

The Sheriff's Coat Drive once again partnered with the Oakland County Pet Adoption Center this year.  For every coat donated, up to four coats, an individual wishing to adopt a pet can take $25 off the pet adoption fee, for a maximum discount of $100, up until the end of this year.

"Coats for the Cold is an easy way for the community to reach out and help someone less fortunate stay warm this winter," Sheriff Bouchard said. "For the past 27 years, we have worked with local charitable

organizations to provide free cCOATS4COLD.jpgoats to those in need.  The community's generosity has been wonderful every year."

The new or clean, used coats collected during the month of November will be given to ten different charitable organizations on Friday, December 5th, who will then distribute the coats to those most in need at no cost.
