Oakland County Medical Care Facility Pontiac, Michigan
Oakland County has a gem which many folks have never heard about - the Oakland County Medical Care Facility. Located within the county complex, it provides long term care for our senior residents in a loving environment. Today when we hear so many stories about poor care being received, it is important to acknowledge and appreciate a first rate facility such as this.
The Oakland County Medical Care Facility serves the residents of Oakland County. The 120 licensed beds are dual certified for Medicare and Medicaid. The facility provides service to the more difficult residents in Oakland County to place due either to their complex medical needs or insurance needs (85-90% of our residents have Medicaid as a form of insurance). A full range of services are provided including, nursing, dietary, social services, physical, speech and occupational therapy and a very active activities department. Pharmacy, x-ray and lab are also on premises, which is unusual in the nursing home industry.
Seniors' Prom - June 27, 2003
On June 27, 2003 the Oakland County Medical Care Facility and staff were proud to have our third annual Seniors Prom. The theme for this year's prom was a Luau. This year's King Jack Copenhaver and Queen Mary Eatmon presided over the festive event. There was music and great food. L. Brooks Patterson added to the festivities by providing residents with corsages and boutonnières, as well as taking part in the celebration. Many different county departments were gracious in donating items for decorations and tropical type clothing. The residents looked outstanding, there was a great turnout, and the Medical Care Facility Staff did a great job of seeing that everyone enjoyed themselves. We are looking forward to next year's event and hope that many people will come and join us.
