Federal Depository Collection

Federal Depository Program
The library first began receiving U.S. Government documents in the mid-1970s when it became a selective housing site with Cranbrook Schools Library as the main depository. When Cranbrook Schools relinquished depository status in late 1991, the Oakland County Library applied to become a depository in its own right. It was designated a Federal Depository Library on June 3, 1992.

U.S. Government Documents are mainly housed in the Research Library and the Adams-Pratt Law Library. In the Research Library many of the publications may be checked out, with the exception of reference items. All materials in the Adams-Pratt Law Library are for in-house use only. They are available for use during all normal business hours.

Included are demographics, population, housing, law, education, criminal justice, aging, disabilities, and labor statistics. The collections are arranged by Library of Congress call number. Many of the titles may be found in the libraries online catalogs, although retrospective cataloging is ongoing.
