Radio Oversight Committee


Radio Oversight Committee Co-Chairs:
Chief Doreen Olko, Auburn Hills Police Department
Chief Bill Nelson, Troy Fire Department


The Radio Oversight Committee operates under the CLEMIS Advisory Committee. Formed in August 2000, the primary goal is to enhance citizen and officer safety by transitioning Oakland County public safety voice, data, and paging communications from separate incompatible systems into a cohesive, interoperable system.

The Committee normally focuses on areas such as:

  • Ownership issues
  • Budgetary expenditures and revenues
  • User needs analysis
  • Establishing priorities
  • Technical issues
  • System design and upgrades
  • Implementation issues
  • Parity of equipment distribution and talk group access
  • Policies and procedures

Committee membership includes:

  • Two representatives from local police departments
  • Three representatives from local fire departments (one career firefighter department, one on-call firefighter department, and one public safety agency)
  • Two representatives from the Oakland County Sheriff Department
  • The CLEMIS Chairperson
  • One representative from the Oakland County Board of Commissioners
  • The Director of Oakland County Information Technology or his/her designee
  • A designee of the Oakland County Executive
  • The Director of Management and Budget or his/her designee
  • A representative of EMS (who must be a public employee) appointed by the medical control authority.
