The interview process consists of three separate interviews, with Prosecutor Gorcyca conducting the third and final interview.
Applicants may be hired and begin employment immediately upon graduation as an Assistant Prosecutor Trainee.
Assistant Prosecutor Trainees are provided ample time-off to prepare for the Bar Examination. Upon admission to the Michigan Bar, a Trainee's classification is changed to that of Assistant Prosecutor I and accompanied by a salary increase.
Law Student Internship Opportunities
Internship opportunities are available to second and third year law students. Invaluable courtroom exposure and litigation experience are provided under the direct supervision of an Assistant Prosecutor.
Interested law students should send their resume' and cover letter to the attention of Mary Larkin, Chief Attorney-Administration at least two months prior to the start of the semester.
Additionally, the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan (PAAM) organization offers paid summer internship opportunities to students after completion of the second year of law school.
The Oakland County Prosecutors Office serves as one of several offices throughout the state where a PAAM intern may be assigned. Extensive training is provided by the PAAM organization to prepare students for their internship duties.
PAAM interns in our office are assigned to the District Court Division. After successfully completing our District Court orientation and training requirements, interns may conduct court proceedings under the direct supervision of an experienced Assistant Prosecutor.
