The Bad Check Program allows merchants to seek restitution from bad check writers without having to go through the time or expense of a criminal prosecution. If bad check writers who are referred to the program complete all requirements and pay all restitution, criminal charges are not sought. The bad check writer is required to attend classes and pay for those classes.
This program represents a considerable cost savings not only to the victims, but also to the taxpayers, since the expense of a criminal prosecution is not incurred.
