Created with the intention of keeping violent prisoners behind bars, the Parole Appeal Section fights on behalf of victims regarding paroles granted by the Michigan Parole Board.
The Parole Appeal Section helps victims argue against a prisoner's parole at Parole Board hearings in Lansing. The section has successfully kept murderers, child molesters, rapists and other assaultive prisoners in prison.
In addition to fighting paroles, the section also appeals paroles in cases where it can be clearly shown the inmate would pose a serious threat to the safety of the community if he/she were to be released.
In order to receive parole release notification, the victims must register with the Crime Victim's Rights Unit of the Michigan Department of Corrections at:
