This innovative section, cyber crimes, was created to combat new criminal techniques that victimize unsuspecting persons through the  Internet.

The range of crimes prosecuted by members of this section include:

• stalking
• identity theft
• credit card theft
• extortion, and
• soliciting minors for immoral purposes

Protecting children from sexual predators is a priority for this section.

Prosecutors are assisted by undercover police officers posing as children in Internet chat rooms.

This pro-active law enforcement technique successfully stops many pedophiles' efforts target children for sexual exploitation.
