Circuit Court Case Cycle - Arraignment

An arraignment is a brief hearing in which the defendant is informed of the charges being filed against them.

The formal charging document is called the "General Information", and a copy is given to the defendant or the defendant's attorney.

Every criminal case is titled "The People of the State of Michigan v. Defendant." The Prosecutor represents the "People." Dates for future hearings and meetings are established by the Judge.

This hearing is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
