Divisions
Below please find listings for each of the Oakland County Prosecutor's divisions and sections.
Administrative -- The Administration Division assists the Prosecuting Attorney by providing the central control of the criminal prosecution process while coordinating the required accounting, purchasing, personnel and auxiliary services of the office.
Appellate -- The Appellate Division of the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office is responsible for all of the proceedings which occur in a criminal case after there has been a conviction and sentence.
Autotheft -- The Auto Theft Section of the Circuit Court Division specializes in the prosecution of auto theft and related crimes such as insurance fraud, false police reports regarding auto theft, and fraudulent purchase of autos.
Child Sexual Assault -- This section aggressively prosecutes sexual assaults committed against vulnerable children. A specially trained prosecutor and social worker from this section are assigned to each victim for the entire duration of the case.
Circuit Court -- The Circuit Court Division of the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office handles the majority of the felony cases in the Oakland County Circuit Court. These include murder, criminal sexual conduct, larceny, home invasion, fraud, robbery, assault, drugs, weapons, and others.
Cyber Crimes -- This innovative section was created to combat new criminal techniques that victimize unsuspecting persons through the Internet.
District Court -- Oakland County District Courts handle all offenses where the potential
penalty is one year or less and all civil infraction traffic offenses. They also conduct preliminary
examinations for defendants who are charged with felonies.
Domestic Violence -- The Domestic Violence section vigorously pursues defendants charged with crimes of domestic violence committed on a spouse, family member or significant other.
Economic Recovery Unit -- The Economic Recovery section investigates complex criminal activities and identifies assets that have been acquired through drug dealing and other criminal offenses.
Elder Abuse -- The Elder Abuse section concentrates on cases involving elder victims of assaultive crimes as well as offenses involving financial exploitation of seniors.
Family Support Division -- The Family Support Division pursues parents who have failed to pay child support.
Juvenile Division -- Juvenile delinquency and child protection actions are prosecuted in the Juvenile Justice Division.
Narcotics Division -- Prosecutors in the narcotics section concentrate on mid-level and upper-level narcotics traffickers as well as repeat offenders of the drug laws.
Parole Appeal -- The Parole Appeal Section has successfully kept many convicted murderers, child molesters, rapists and other violent inmates in prison by opposing their early parole release.
Victims Services -- Advocates provide victims with notice of all court dates and thorough explanations of each proceeding. Advocates also accompany victims to court hearings and offer emotional support to the victim and family members.
Warrants Division -- The Warrants Division oversees police investigations; reviews facts, evidence, available witness statements, and applicable law; and recommends or denies all requests for warrant authorizations.
