When a crime or offense is committed, an investigation is conducted by the law enforcement agency which has jurisdiction over the area where the crime or offense occurred.

When this investigation is completed, the officer in charge of the case will bring his investigation and evidence to the Warrants Division of the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office for purposes of review by an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney assigned to the Warrants Division.
